The New Kindle Paperwhite
All of the Kindle Paperwhite versions feature a touch screen and a unique side light which makes it easy to read in low light conditions, even in the dark, without the eyestrain associated with back-lit tablet.
If you are leaning toward the Paperwhite, you may want to take a look at the web site that I created as a review of the New Kindle Paperwhite. There is a lot of good information there about the Paperwhite and also about e-readers in general. You can see the site here:  Kindle Paperwhite Features – an unbiased review.
There are three models of the Paperwhite
  • The Kindle Paperwhite 3G – $189
This is the most expensive Paperwhite for two reasons. First, it includes free 3G wireless service that does not require an account with any wireless carrier. Second, there is no 3G version with ads, which makes ad models cheaper. The advantage of 3G is that you can download books and sync to your Kindle account wherever there is 3G service. No WiFi is necessary. This means that you can even download books and sync while riding in a car.

  • The Kindle Paperwhite WiFi without “special options” (ads) – $139
This is the WiFi version of the Paperwhite without ads. A WiFi connection is necessary to download books and sync with your Kindle account. You can use any WiFi connection that you can connect to.

  • The Kindle Paperwhite WiFi with special options (ads) – $119
This Paperwhite version is identical to the one above, except that it has ads and is, therefore, cheaper. Amazon implements ads in a very non-distracting way in that they are displayed only on the screensaver when the device is sleeping or in the home screen. No ads are displayed while you are reading. Like the no ad model, a WiFi connection is necessary to download books and sync with your Kindle account. You can use any WiFi connection that you can connect to.
